The introduction of our machining centre will allow MS Okna i Drzwi sp. z o.o., an established Polish company specialising in the production of high-end windows, to expand its offer and increase its competitiveness in the market.

In the window and door sector, and not only, technological innovation is redefining competitive paradigms, rewarding operators able to combine flexibility, quality and time-to-market.

It is in this scenario that MS Group, which includes MS Okna i Drzwi Sp. Z o.o., specialises in the production of wood and wood-aluminium windows. MS Okna decided to invest in the Woodpecker Performance 5 machining centre to consolidate its position in the high-end window and door market.

In this regard, we interviewed Jacek Stebelski, head of MS Okna i Drzwi sp. z o.o.’s technology department, during testing at our factory.

As Jacek Stebelski recounts, the decision to adopt the Saomad solution matured at the end of a very thorough evaluation process:

‘We got to know the company through Mr Andrzej, Saomad’s representative in Poland, who told us about the possibilities of this machine and we started to consider it.

We obtained all the necessary information about the machine, the Saomad company and its owner, Dario Camporese, but above all we saw that there was a group of people behind it, a team’.

A key element in this phase was the positive references collected from other companies that had already adopted the Saomad technology.

‘It is clear that without the good references, without the good word from these colleagues/competitors, the purchase would not have been made,’ Stebelski emphasises.

‘They remarked to us both the robustness of the machine and the good service, i.e. cooperation, start-up assistance, training.

But what really made the difference was Saomad’s holistic and customised approach. ‘A very important thing for us was not only the machine, but the total protection we had from Saomad,’ Stebelski explains.

‘Mr Dario Camporese personally came to us, listened to our needs, gave us the general overview of the machine, also changed our point of view regarding both the tools and the software; we felt very well looked after.

Saomad provided us with complete support on the whole project, not just on the sale of a single machine.

From a technical point of view, the Woodpecker Performance 5 proved to be perfectly suited to MS Okna i Drzwi sp. z o.o.’s requirements in terms of flexibility, productivity and machining quality.

‘The machine gives us incredible possibilities in terms of flexibility, versatility in the various profiles, and it also gives us incredible productivity,’ says Stebelski.

‘Overall, the collaboration with our partners – the company Oertli for the tools and Kosmosoft for the software – followed by Saomad, gives us results that have exceeded our expectations.

The integrability and synergy between the various components of the solution – CNC, tools, CAD/CAM – is a real added value in terms of process optimisation.

‘The cooperation of all these companies really gives us enormous opportunities to develop and build new markets, to create new products,’ Stebelski remarks.

With the introduction of the new machining centre, MS Okna i Drzwi sp. z o.o. expects to further expand its already rich product range of more than 70 frames by focusing on high added-value solutions.

‘We want to start with European standard windows, then with English ‘guillotine’ windows, French windows, also doors and finally casement-type windows,’ Stebelski explains. ‘We want to gradually introduce all window designs, even the most complex ones, into this machine.’

This flexibility opens up interesting development prospects for the company in its target markets. ‘Between 50% and 60% of our production is exported to Great Britain, where we have our dealer network. Among our most prestigious references I would like to mention the recent supply of windows and doors for Buckingham Palace.

We are also present in the United States, albeit with smaller volumes (about 5%), where we mainly target the high-end residential segment. In Europe, which absorbs 40-45% of our production, we are present in Germany, France, and of course Poland.

We are also entering Italy where we already have a dealer network. In fact we already sell PVC windows in Italy thanks to the other company in the group. Now we would like to offer our Italian dealers and partners wooden windows as well, and they will probably already be the windows produced with the Saomad machine’.

The introduction of such an innovative solution would not be possible without solid technical skills and the commitment of human resources.

‘One important thing I would like to emphasise,’ Stebelski remarks, ’is that in all three companies we have found very high-level professionals, very qualified people who have given us a lot of attention: that is why at MS Okna i Drzwi sp. z o.o. we are sure that this project will be an absolute success.

After all, as Stebelski himself recalls, the know-how of the people has always been the real driving force behind MS Okna i Drzwi sp. z o.o.’s competitiveness: ‘The most important strength for us are the people. We are fortunate to have a staff of specialised people who have been working with us for more than 20 years.

Without these people the company would not exist, without the experience and expertise of these people the company would not exist, we would never have achieved the quality that we possess and which is simply inestimable.

At the same time, we are committed to training new recruits through careful mentoring, to ensure the continuity of this ‘strength’ also in the future’.

A consideration echoed in the final words of Jacek Stebelski: ‘I would like to thank all the people who made this result possible: first of all Dario Camporese and all the Saomad staff, Andrzej Gluchowski, Saomad’s representative in Poland and so also company ITA spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością sp. k, and of course all the people at Oertli and Kosmosoft.

It was an interesting interview because in the end the human aspect was emphasised: it is the people who make the difference.
